Apart from a childhood in the Bay Area, Ashley then spent a couple of high school years in Malaysia, a couple of college years in Costa Rica, and a lot of her twenties leading trips to remote areas overseas. Having seen some really scenic wild places around the world, she has found a special appreciation for the mildly scenic daily adventure: the kind of place that delivers the thrill of the natural environment without the hours of travel and vacation time.
