Previously he spent 20 years in Texas newspapers as a writer, editor, and later, weekly publisher, and earned many writing awards.
He is a veteran of the U.S Navy and earned a B.A. in Journalism from North Texas State University (now UNT), and a M.A. in Political Science from the University of Texas at Arlington.view less
