Her career began on the Atlanta Journal, writing features, covering news, and meeting her husband, whose job took them to the west coast. She was hired by the Los Angeles Times and became the newspaper’s first woman to head a domestic bureau.
The Bennetts returned to Atlanta where she joined fledgling CNN as a news writer. She became copy editor, producer and editorial manager before ending her career at CNN International where she was senior copy editor of a morning show airing in Hong Kong. She retired to the western North Carolina mountains where she writes poetry, essays, short stories and occasionally works at a local weekly newspaper.view less
