With a deep love for books and music she discovered the best free entertainment her parents could offer was the public library. UC Berkeley graduate in Dramatic Art, and a student in the miraculous adventure of life, her background ranges from performing Shakespeare at colleges and parks throughout the US and singing with major music artists around the world.
Phyllis St James has worked in the entertainment industry as a studio singer, concert performer, and actor for nearly fifty years. Her songs released on Norman Connors and Rodney Franklin climbed the Billboard charts and she recorded her first solo album on Motown Records. Turning her interest to studio singing, she recorded albums for Pink Floyd, U2, Lionel Richie, Barbra Streisand, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and countless others. She sang on major film scores (Toy Story, Lion King, Ice Age, Hocus Pocus 2 and more) both as soloist and group singer. As a touring backup singer, she performed throughout the US and world with Boz Scaggs, Andrae Crouch, Celine Dion, Mavis Staples, Don Henley, the Bee Gees and others.
Phyllis returned to academic life at Cal-State University, Northridge to earn her Master's with Distinction in Screenwriting, a long-time dream. The whole world may appear to be a stage for Phyllis, but it is surely a mission field where she shares her ‘voice’ as an instrument of healing to testify of her personal survival and experiences of goodness and Grace. Phyllis resides with her family and two sweet doggies in Los Angeles, California. www.phyllisstjames.com
Visual artist and illustrator Lynne Elaine has been drawing almost as soon as she could pick up a pencil. Born in California, raised in Houston, Texas she used visual art as her earliest form of personal expression. Primarily self-taught, her default choice of illustration has always been figurative. Rich colors based on Pop Art sensibilities are a trademark of her work. Formally employed as a high school fine arts teacher, this is Lynne’s first foray into published art illustrations.
