He is co-founder of the Maryam Forum Foundation (UK), an initiative aimed at accelerating the development of transformative leadership grounded in evidence-based research, and exercised by accountable, global leaders. Khalid chairs a family office, whose investment strategy focuses on venture and infrastructure, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Khalid advises numerous policy institutes and public institutions in Europe on initiatives related to governance reform in the greater Middle East and North Africa region. He previously served as co-chair of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on the Middle East and North Africa and vice chair of the Arab Business Council.
Khalid is a frequent contributor to the opinion page in Arab newspapers, such as Arab News, and he participates in numerous televised debates in global and pan-Arab media.
Khalid was born in Bahrain in 1958. His university studies at the American University of Beirut were interrupted by the Civil War in Lebanon, after which he completed his studies in Computer Science and Accounting at the University of Manchester. He launched an eighteen-year-long career at PriceWaterhouse (now PwC) as a Chartered Accountant in the UK and Bahrain, prior to becoming the CEO of Dar Al-Maal Al-Islami Trust, based in Geneva, Switzerland, and assuming the leadership and board membership of financial institutions in Europe the Middle East and Asia.view less
