I would come up with stories and jot them down. When I was old enough, I would proofread some of my mother’s work documents when asked. When I attended college, my love for music became serious. However, I was told many times that pursuing a music performance degree was fraught with financial danger, so I majored in Geography, since I had also developed an interest in maps. During my last year of college I was able to take a fiction writing course, and then began fleshing out an idea for a novel. My writing muse had returned! After securing a job, I expanded my musical repertoire and writing styles, while continuing to add to my novel. I researched other writing outlets, but I found that traditional publishing was not likely to be my bread-and-butter. Then I discovered Helium.com in 2007.Helium was an online community where authors could sharpen their writing skills and earn money based on the number of people who clicked on their work. I wrote approximately 180 articles on Helium, the highest earner of those being “How to Write a Choose Your Own Adventure Story.”I had not touched my novel for many years, but a visit to the Maryland Renaissance Festival brought back my inspiration with a vengeance. I finished writing my novel and hired a professional editor and cover artist. At this point, my main goal is to get my story out to the public.I am currently writing a book about community concert bands, many of which I've consistently been a member of since 1993.view less
