He has taught English at overseas American and international schools in Taipei, Singapore, Isfahan, and Luxembourg. He has also served as a Chinese Mandarin translator with the U.S. Army, as a Peace Corps volunteer in Nepal, and as a curriculum writer in Saudi Arabia. In his youth, he traveled widely through South Asia, backpack style. His chief interest is Eastern religions. In 2001 he retired in Thailand after teaching for 15 years at Thammasat University.view less
