She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and holds a master of arts degree from Southwest Texas State University, now Texas State University. She worked as a reporter and columnist for several Texas newspapers. She was an associate editor and a columnist for the Texas Star magazine, a Sunday supplement which ran in twenty-six leading Texas newspapers.
She is the author of four books published by E.P. Dutton. The Texas Institute of Letters named her fourth book, Ten Cousins, Best Children’s Book by a Texas author for the year it was published.
She lives in Fort Worth, Texas where she spends her days reading, writing, and keeping up with current events and the activities of her large family. She has two daughters, two sons, ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.view less
