As a child, Connard struggled with his parents’ marital confrontations over his father's alcohol consumption, while he observed and pondered ways to intervene.Childhood dreams of becoming an astron...view moreAs a child, Connard struggled with his parents’ marital confrontations over his father's alcohol consumption, while he observed and pondered ways to intervene.Childhood dreams of becoming an astronaut waylaid, Connard dropped out of engineering school, and as a result of the draft, served in the US Army, which included a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam.Following an honorable discharge, he shifted direction and received a BS in Sociology at Western Kentucky University and then an MA in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from the University of San Fransisco.As a licensed therapist, Connard worked twenty-five years, primarily treating alcoholics & addicts, before he retired.His current pursuits include nonfiction writing, world travel, creating pottery, hiking and service to others.Married three times & divorced twice, though never as a polygamist, Connard is appreciative that suffering his adult-child-of-an-alcoholic temperament requires his spouse’s dedication.view less
