Maria has a law degree, a postgraduate diploma in legal translation and trained in acting at the NYC Atlantic Acting School and the Barcelona Performing Arts School.
At sixteen, she wrote a youth story while enhancing her interest in writing in her diaries.
She combined her law and acting studies with training in creative writing and weekly meetings with her group of writers at Barcelona’s Ateneu while writing poetry and short stories.
Rotger writes in English, Spanish, and Catalan. She also creates stage and screenplays. Her scripts and short films have been selected and awarded at international film festivals on various occasions.
She has received the Award for Best TV Series at the Prix Royal Paris Screenplay Awards screenplay competition and the Award of Merit for Best Female Filmmaker at the Vegas Movie Awards film festival.
