She and her husband Capp have three married adult children and six grandchildren. After a 35 year career as an expressive arts therapist, child and adolescent therapist, she was diagnosed with leukemia, a childhood disease. Dr. Sue has worked as an advocate, professor, trainer, presenter, psychotherapist and school social worker. She has been honored three times by the University of Maryland, School of Social Work, and in 2020 received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the NASW (National Association of Social Workers) Maryland chapter. Her oncologist asked her to write a book about her experience and the result is this poem.view less
