He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Education from Stout State College, Menomonie, Wisconsin, and a Master of Education Degree from the University of Illinois at UrbanaChampaign. In adulthood, he became a musician, National Ski Patrolman, private pilot, high school educator, and aquatics coach. He and his wife had two daughters.view less
