Joining the United States Navy at age 24, she served 29 and a half years retiring with the rank of Captain. During her military career she lived overseas in Sicily, northern Japan, central Japan, Puerto Rico and Germany as well as in San Diego; Montgomery, Alabama; Washington DC and Norfolk, Virginia. She is married to Sylvan Copelof, a retired Chief Warrant Officer Four, USN. They live in Brevard, North Carolina and Gundelsheim, Germany.view less
