1928. He completed his studies in Tehran
and graduated with honor from the Tehran
Faculty of Medicine. The 1953 coup d’etat in
Iran by the Eisenhower administration had an
extremely detrimental effect on him. A few
months later, he traveled to the United States
to complete his training. At the onset of Mr.
Abbas Hoveyda’s premiership, he became his personal and private
physician; thus becoming well familiar with the political milieu. In
1970, he moved back to Houston. Dr. Guilak retired in 1995 and
began a fi fteen years journey to write the relation between Iran and the
United States, thus fulfi lling his long awaited dream, to contribute to a
better understanding between these two nations.view less
