Bankole Onasanya was born in Ushi-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria of Ijebu-Ode and Abeokuta parents. He attended Olu-Iwa College [now Adeola Odutola College] Ijebu-Ode where he obtained his West African and Higher School Certificates.
He received a Bachelors degree in Sociology from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria; a Master of Science degree in Agro-Industrial Management from the Arthur D. Little Management Education Institute, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA; a Certificate of Fellow from the Center for Advanced Engineering Studies, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA; and a Doctor of Business Administration degree from Nova University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.
Professor Onasanya taught very briefly upon graduation from the University of Ibadan and also worked in the Nigerian Federal Civil Service. He has taught at several colleges in the United States. He is a Professor of Business Administration and an International Management Consultant.
