He was promptly placed in an incubator and thus survived. He rode his first horse at eleven years old in spite of his overprotective mother's demand that he not and retrained his first spoiled horse at the age of fifteen. He has been a small-town newspaper reporter, horse wrangler, and drover. He now lives in Bismarck, North Dakota, among the people he writes about.view less
