In addition to seven years as a technical writer and lecturer for the headquarters of United States Army Europe, he has written instructed technical material at several US Army training centers and has lectured military students on oral and written communications skills for two major colleges. His interest in German military history, particularly World Wars I and World War II and the Nazi era, began with his first assignment to that country in 1972. He has since devoted much of his spare time to studying the causes and effects of German militarism in the twentieth century, visiting many of its infamous sites and venues and assembling a diverse personal library of books and materials on the subject. In recent years, he has shifted his focus to the interaction between Jewish and non-Jewish populations in Germany as affected by the emergence of anti-Semitism during the Third Reich. He resides today in a small town in Germany with his German-born wife, herself the daughter of a WWII German soldier and POW. Surrounded by the echoes of those tragic years, he spends his time writing, researching, and connecting the dots to further illuminate that bizarre and unforgettable period in history.view less
