As she lost her father at a very young age, she grew up in an unconventional all women household of 1970’s patriarchal Indian society.
Her passion for art and literature bloomed in those early years when she was studying Botany, with Biochemistry major at Santiniketan, Visvabharati.
She came to USA at tender age of twenty two as a student at The George Washington University, School of Engineering and Applied Science and completed her MS in 1997. Her career started as a System Analyst at General Motors/EDS.
Fate took its evil turn and at a critical juncture of her personal life, Amrita embraced Medical School at an advanced age. She passed with flying colors with best research award with the graduating class of 2008 from NSUCOM/ Florida.
Today Amrita lives in Orlando, Florida, being a dedicated Physician of homeless people in an underserved community. Amrita loves to go to mission trips in places like Peru and Africa. She has a daughter and her husband, who is constantly supporting her personal and professional development.
Amrita writes her stories, amazing milestones of her past, that she crossed as an Indian female immigrant in a foreign land and hopes that it will inspire many to fight their odds and enjoy the magic of survival.view less
