Upon graduating from high school, his only goal was to become a stock boy at the grocery store where he was bagging groceries. Thanks to a pivotal meeting one afternoon at work and the life-changing inspiration of a college professor, he became the first American to ever live in the mountain village of At-Bashi, Kyrgyzstan. After completing his Peace Corps service, he married his wife on the beach of Texel Island in the Netherlands. Upon the couple’s return to the United States, they moved to the greater DC metro area, where Robert completed his PhD in sociology at American University. He is currently employed as an adjunct sociology professor at the Crystal City, Virginia, campus of DeVry University and as a program manager for Fairfax County.view less
