He earned a BA in religion and philosophy from Birmingham-Southern College, a BS in business from the University of Alabama, an MBA from Auburn University, and a PhD in finance from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Additionally, he received a graduate certificate in spiritual direction from Spring Hill College.
