Haberman is a native of southern Minnesota, a graduate of Jackson County Central High School, were he was an honor student and academic all-state wrestler. He attended St. John’s University as a freshman and, after attending numerous colleges in Iowa and Minnesota, earned his Bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State University in 2003 in human biology and chemistry. He also earned an associate degree as a medical laboratory assistant in May of 2011. He wrestled two years in college and has run 23 full marathons.
J.P. pursued martial arts and music as a means to deal with a traumatic brain injury, and, throughout those years studied numerous authors and poets independently. He quit his job in 2012 and has since been working to finish a semi-autobiographical novel, called the Two Seasons. The International Cheese Throwdown was an additional project not entirely unrelated to the novel.
J.P. currently resides in a small Northern Minnesota town with his wife, two children and their three dogs.view less
