His family line however traces back to William Marshall, first Earl of Pembroke, who is described as "the greatest knight who ever lived". Perhaps it is genetic then that he has a great interest in medieval culture and costuming and a particular zeal for armour and weaponry.
He also plays auction bridge, enjoys photography and has an extensive knowledge of horticulture. He describes himself as, "a figment of my own imagination".
