Judah, Marleta, Faith, and Hope. My grandchildren are Gabrielle, Izayah, Nia, Mia, D’Sean, Judah, Elijah, and Jadah. My brothers and sisters are Joshua, Joseph, Jesse, John, Juanita, Bobbie, Mary, Sarah, Dorothy, and Nancy Taylor. I love writing about the Lord, to give all glory, honor, and praise to Him. I am a published songwriter, poet, author, and sometimes singer. I want to recognize my relatives, Asalea and Isaac Byers, who raised me, and their daughter, Deloris Byers Holcomb.
I was born in 1948 in Fries, Virginia, and raised in Welch, W.Va. I attended Welch Dunbar Elementary and Junior High School, where I was an honor student. I then attended Welch High School. There, our school band played for Vice-President Lyndon B. Johnson during the “Veterans Day Parade,” and the “Welch High School Choir” sang a few selections. I was the “Soloist” in the selection “The Battle Hymn of The Republic.” This was performed in the “Pocahontas Theater” in 1963, when I was fifteen. Ironically, my nick-name is Pocahontas!view less
