Mobile, Alabama and the 4th child of 9
children. I came from a broken home and
was raised along with 6 of my brothers and sister by
my Grandmother, whom was a devout Christian
and taught us Godly principles at a young age.
We were very poor but we were brought up in
love and taught to love and respect all people.
Through my grandmother’s faith and efforts we
had most of our basic needs met. These poems
were inspired from my life as a child growing up in
the civil rights movement and refl ections of what
I perceived from childhood up until adulthood.
It was this era that stirred the coals of fi re in my
heart and mind and sent me on a mission to fi nd
meaning in life and my place in society.view less
