Laurence is retired after 40 years from the Ventura County Fire Department. During his career he rose through the ranks. He served as a Fireman, Fire Engineer, Fire Captain and Fire Battalion Chief. Chief Whelan attended the California State Fire Academy and the National Fire Academy. He received degrees from Ventura College and the Blackstone School of Law.view less
