Sensei Jason is a fourth-degree black belt in Okinawan shorinryu and student of Sensei Koei Nohara in Okinawa, Japan. He also is a member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) National Karate Program and a certified Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) double-goal coach.
Sensei Jason and his wife own a karate school, Goldsboro Okinawa Karatedo, in North Carolina and have taught hundreds of children and adults throughout the years, including their own two daughters. Prior to opening their dojo in 2008, Sensei Jason began working on the idea of writing a karate childrens book based on the teaching principles of karate and his life skills.
In 2010, Sensei Jasons oldest daughter, Hannah, began illustrating the book at only eight years old. Hannah has been training since she was only four years old and is an AAU National Karate champion and AAU Junior Olympics Karate champion. In 2016, Hannah made the AAU/USA National Karate Team and competed at the World Union Karate-do Federation World Championships in Dublin, Ireland. Sensei Jason and his wife teach their daughters and students that, through giving their best effort to learn and apply themselves, they can accomplish great things.view less
