He has been involved with emergency care, heart surgery, cardiac imaging, research, and teaching. He trained at the University of Chicago and has been on the medical staffs of Northwestern University Medical School and the University of Hawaii. He has published numerous scientific articles. He is a founding editor of the Asian Annals of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery and The Journal of Preventive Cardiology.
He had been a frequent lecturer in America, Asia, and Europe. He currently resides in Honolulu, Hawaii.
