Hood was born in Ballarat, Victoria, on 15 January 1966 and spent a little time as a baby growing up at the observatory. His father was in the air force (raaf) and was present at the nuclear tests! He later became an air traffic controller, and the family would be transferred to a different location every three years, most often remote/isolated areas, which tend to be difficult on schooling and keeping in touch with friends. At sixteen, he joined the military and had specialist training whilst there, and at eighteen, he became the youngest licensed shot firer (powder monkey) in the world and used explosives in mines in Western Australia and worked in gold, iron ore, and off-shore oil fields. He was a bouncer at numerous pubs and nightclubs and later became a personal bodyguard for famous people. He has had jobs of every description, the most dangerous being unloading cyanide at the mines. He has a very high IQ (98 percentile), and during his extensive time in law enforcement, he has managed to save lives (most often his own!) and has made over 2,500 arrests. Twice he has been trained by specialists who train the CIA and the FBI, so he knows his stuff. He has also spent time in the state emergency service (WA), but the thing is, with everything he has been through, if he wrote an autobiography, nobody would believe it; thus, nobody would buy the book! So this (his first book) is as close as you will get to an autobiography all about Ken. Happy reading!view less
