In this book, she addresses the problem of bullying seriously, balanced with light hearted moments. Rather than the main character being bullied by outsiders, as in most books about bullying, Travis is constantly bullied by his cousins. He describes this time with indignant candor and sarcastic humor.
Folkes has been published in Cricket Magazine, Highlights for Children, and in Summer Shorts, an anthology. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators.
She attended St Catherine’s Episcopal School in Richmond, VA., Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA, and the University of Georgia, in Athens, GA. Originally from Augusta, Georgia, she makes her home in San Antonio, Texas.view less
