While in kindergarten, Paramore’s teacher encouraged her to draw. She hated drawing at first but her teacher complimented her work so much when she was six years old and over the years, she continued drawing. As she got older, her work got better. Paramore graduated from Tallahassee Community College and is currently a student a Florida A&M University seeking a degree in Elementary Education. She wants to be a teacher because she enjoy teaching young children. She created this book because she wanted to read more books with African American characters. She felt that there was not a huge variety of books with African American characters and she would want her African American students to see characters they can relate to. Her books would also teach diversity with not just an African American audience but other races as well. Paramore believe that her books will encourage self-love, increase self-esteem and teach students that you can be black and beautiful, it would each diversity in the classroom.view less
