She holds a B.S.Ed. ...view morePatricia Maclin is an emergent writer who worked as a Classroom Teacher and Instructional Facilitator for an urban school district for more than three decades. She holds a B.S.Ed. in Elementary Education; Grades 1-8; a M.A.T. in Multicultural Literature: Grades P-5; a Social Studies Certificate: Grades 4-8; a Reading Specialist Certificate: Grades K-12; and a M.Ed. Adm. with a Principal’s Certificate. She has worked in several administrative roles in both private and public urban elementary school settings. Additionally, she has written and directed a variety of enrichment and intervention programs that have been implemented in a multitude of alternative learning environments.
During the span of her career Ms. Maclin has witnessed firsthand the need for Character Education at the elementary school level or the lack thereof. Many students originating from an inner city environment face a special set of challenges and the need for a strong foundation rooted in values that focus on moral turpitude is vital. She has devoted a lifetime to ensure that students who through no fault of their own were born into communal circumstances that fall short of the American Dream, rise above and reach their potential to live balanced lives filled with prosperity and happiness.
Ms. Maclin has always been captivated by the rich tradition of the Southern High Tea Party. It was during her attendance at one of those celebrations that she was inspired to share the unusual combination of Character Education and tea parties with little girls as well as those with a perpetual sweet tooth that might be reading this book to them. Additional projects include the partner book to this one, “Big Top’s Barbershop.” It is a story for little boys and teaches Character Education through the eyes of a boy who grows up near a popular Barber Shop and will be available in bookstores and in e-book form soon.view less
