He attended West Virginia University and graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. degre...view moreNathan L. Bauld was born in Clarksburg, WV and graduated from Victory High School in that city. He attended West Virginia University and graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. degree in Chemistry. He then matriculated in graduate school at the University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois, earning a Ph.D. in chemistry under the direction of Nobel Laureate E.J.Corey. Subsequently, he pursued postdoctoral research at Harvard University under renowned physical-organic chemist Paul D. Bartlett.
After spending a year as Research Chemist at the Rohm and Haas Company in Philadelphia, he accepted a position in the Chemistry Department at the University of Texas at Austin. He retired as Professor Emeritus in 2005, after 44 years of teaching and research. He is the author of more than 130 research papers in refereed chemistry journals.
Nathan is a member of Austin Baptist Church near Austin, Texas where he sometimes teaches classes in Christian apologetics. Nathan is married to the well-known Austin children’s book writer and Austin history writer Jane Scoggins Bauld. They have five children, eight grandchildren, and a steadily increasing number of great grandchildren.view less
