I was born in Cape Town South Africa during Apartheid.I lived in the country for thirty seven years 1952-1989, after which I immigrated to Canada with my husband and two sons.At the age of ten ,my ...view moreI was born in Cape Town South Africa during Apartheid.I lived in the country for thirty seven years 1952-1989, after which I immigrated to Canada with my husband and two sons.At the age of ten ,my mom passed away and that left me and my four siblings to be raised by our grandmother (mom’s mom).I was the eldest of five girls aged ten,eight ,six three, and a one day old baby. Grandma, after having raised her six children,unselfishly took the responsibility of being guardian to her five grand-daughters.Grandma was illiterate and worked as a Domestic Maid to compliment the family income.Although poor, she provided us with love in abundance and shaped our lives in a safe,loving environment,together with our uncles and aunts.Our grand-parents taught us values through devotion which was a key factor in our upbringing.They turned us into fine adults.I say “Hooray “ to grand-parents.view less
