As first responders, veteran cops can share a host of reports of paranormal sightings ranging from poltergeists to UFOs. It is a global phenomenon. The goat man report of Lake Walsh, Texas in 1969, is no different from the reports of the goat man of Pohakuloa, Hawaii in 1989. Many veterans never ever file official reports of these experiences. But they do share them during cop get-togethers.
In another dimension of his life, David Heaukulani is a born-again Christian. It was the result of a spirit possession incident during a hurricane in Hawaii. The experience challenged his training and confidence in facts and empirical observation. It led him on a decades-long research in the occult and Hawaiian spirituality. He observed and participated in many spirit possession cases during that period.
Accordingly, The Reficul Parallax is a work of fiction; but David Heaukulani weaves into the story line a synthesis of reports of the paranormal from veteran cops and those who were afflicted with the unexplained.
David lives in Hilo, Hawaii with his wife Gay and their menagerie of pets. He teaches part-time at the local campus of the University of Hawaii. Because of his reputation, his assistance is requested in numerous local incidents of spirit possession of homes and persons.view less
