The novel was a semi-finalist for a work-in-progress in the 2003 William Faulkner-William Wisdom Creative Writing Award. The author also received a Samuel Goldwyn Writing Award in 2000 for another work. In addition to novels, she writes screenplays, short stories, stage plays and poetry. She holds an M.A. and an M.F.A. from The U.C.L.A. School of Theater, Film and Television. She is currently a medical student.view less
