A first-time author, he spent forty years of his professional life in the Bell Telephone System, which included three as a member of the Army Signal Corps during World War II, two of these in India and China. Now a widower, he enjoyed fifty-one years with his wife, Ruth Caroline Guthrie, with whom he raised seven children, who in turn, have given him twenty-six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.view less
