He worked as a columnist for newspapers and magazines in the 1970s. Matkari's works thus far include a number of plays, collections of one-act plays, books of his short stories, novels, and poems and plays for children. He has received twenty-one awards from different institutions including the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad, the Maharashtra State Government, and the Sangeet Natak Akademi.view less
