She admired Beatrix Potter and was determined to put her pen and paintbrush to creative use at every opportunity. Although Charlotte had many secretarial jobs, she still succeeded to become a professional artist, and her paintings can be viewed at Linden Hall Hotel in Northumberland. The scenery around the small country village where Charlotte Godkin lives gives inspiration to her paintings of wildflowers, animals, and hills. Charlotte’s imagination and love of children’s storytelling came from her father, whom she admired and adored. The idea of Miss Daisy Weed entered Charlotte’s mind when she was an infant. The first chapter was completed while she was in her 30s, but it was not until Charlotte retired that the old typewriter was replaced by a laptop, ready to start The Life and Times of Miss Daisy Weed.view less
