The experience changed Kate's life by teaching her the joy of truly excellent literature.
She attended St. Francis College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she received a bachelor of arts degree in English. After she graduated, she made a living as a reporter and editor at a succession of community newspapers. Her love for Regency romances grew and she eagerly devoured every title she could get her hands on. When she was perilously close to turning 40, Kate resigned from her position as managing editor in order to pursue her lifelong dream of writing novels.
Kate fulfilled that dream with the publication of The Captain's Courtship in March 1999. Although it was her debut novel, Romantic Times Magazine labeled it a top pick for March. Her sophomore effort, The Lieutenant's Lady, was published in December 1999, and her first novella was included in the anthology Spring Kittens in 2000. In between author appearances and her busy writing schedule, Kate relaxes with her husband in a small town in Illinois.view less
