Yearning for greener grass, her parents made stakes in four states and two provinces before landing in swamplands of Florida when she was a teen.But the traveling blues was already in her blood, so she kept on movin' - the marvelous adventures and shattering mishaps imprinting themselves upon the landscapes, characters, and dramas of her imagination. There will always be a train, a lost highway and a character adrift in her stories. Former incarnations include tenured professor of English from the University of Puerto Rico where she taught creative writing for over a decade.She's also a music and arts journalist, songwriter, blues harmonica player, documentary photographer and mentors new writers in the Western Connecticut State Low Residency MFA in Creative and Professional Writing program.Currently, she lives between the Pacific Northwest and Southeast Coastal Florida where she listens for the trains at night.Projects underway: Riders of the Dust - a 1920s Western inspired by her fierce Montana grandmothers.Her award-winning novel - Two Spoons of Bitter, A story of love, betrayal and redemption - is her first novel.sonjamongar.author@gmail.comhttps://www.facebook.com/sonja.mongar.96view less
