Dantas was deli...view moreHelen Dantas is a Brazilian-Canadian novelist and public speaker. She was born to a middle-class family in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, in the Southeast of Brazil. Dantas was delighted when her mother gave her a trip to her homeland, Ceará, in the Northeast of Brazil for her 16th birthday. Dantas fell in love with the rich culture of the region and decided to stay. That lived experience made her realize the importance of resilience, optimism, courage and faith, qualities that became part of her and later influenced her writing.Dantas completed her studies in 1986, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Portuguese Languages and Literature. During a visit to Canada in 1988, she met the man who would become her husband for the next twenty-three years. Dantas began work on her first novel, Unveiling the Truth following her divorce. The book was translated into Portuguese with the title, Encontro com a Verdade. Dantas is currently working on her second novel, Reliving.Helen’s approach to internal conflicts and self-analysis unfolds a transformative healing process, using a writing and language style that are significant marks of her work. Through her stories and speeches Helen strives to engage the readers and participants to realize the power they have within.Helen, a member of The Writers’ Union of Canada, enjoys the connection with her readers, especially during book clubs, workshops and public speaking.
