Ruhaniyah's overarching themes in her work are self-development and using education as a tool for social justice. Her focus areas include: diversity and inclusion, gendered racism and colorism within communities of color, gendered Islamophobia, social and cultural capital of marginalized and minoritized communities, cultural ecology of high-achieving students, intimate partner violence relating to academic success and persistence, post-trauma survivor resilience, and identity formation and hybrid identities.
Ruhaniyah earned her PhD in Higher Education, Master’s in Education and also graduated with her BA (cum laude) in Spanish. She is married and has one daughter.view less
