She received a BM degree from University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1966. She is the mother of two daughters, Wanda Michelle Belle and Monica Warrenita Belle. She worked for nine years at the Library of Congress and recently retired from CareFirst of Maryland after twenty years. She resides in Randallstown, MD, with her husband, Dr. Melton P.
