Following military service and college, he taught English and Speech at high school, community college, and university levels. While teaching he wrote and edited academic journals and freelanced with magazines and newspapers. Now, writing fiction full time, he has returned to his love of history. He lives in the desert in Southern California and has a house in Mexico where he collects Mexican Folk Art and is a regular contributor to museums around the United States.
