This is the central question that cuts across Thomas McFaul's current and previous books. While his separate writings examine some of humanity's most passionate pursuits--such as peace, justice, truth, freedom--these are but parts of a larger whole. During his four decade career as a writer and college professor in ethics and religious studies, he examined in depth the variety of faith traditions that fill the lives of people everywhere on earth with a profound sense of purpose and personal meaning. His sensitivity to the power of faith inspired him to write The Future of God in the Global Village: Spirituality in an Age of Terrorism and Beyond, which is the third volume in his trilogy of books on the future.
The first eight chapters out of a total of ten describe how to think about religion, the essential elements of all religions both old and new, and how religion connects to economics and politics. The last two chapters advocate for the spiritual equality of all faiths and sketch out three alternative scenarios on the future of God in the global village. In the final analysis, this book is about peace and the place of human spirituality in promoting it.
Dr. McFaul and his wife Sally reside in the town of Allen, Texas, where they have access to all the family, cultural, and community activities that living in the Dallas-Ft. Worth metropolitan area has to offer. Even as a retired professor, he continues to keep a busy teaching and writing schedule as an adjunct faculty member at Southern Methodist University and Collin College.view less
