I worked in an area of Race Relations in the military in the 1970s. I did not think I would see an African American be elected as president of the United States in my lifetime. I was very excited prior to the election, at the possibility of Mr. Obama being elected to be president. I wanted to be sure that I was able to vote. As fate would have it, I was scheduled for an operation on Election Day. My wife checked and found a place where we could vote absentee ballot.
My operation was done and Mr. Obama was elected. I had an extensive recovery period, and somehow began to think of Mr. Obama’s campaign as a revolution of words and ideas of change. I then decided that after my rehabilitation period I would document some of the events during the campaign, and after Mr. Obama’s election I wanted to show that some of his campaign promises and ideas were truly revolutionary. So I thought, why not call the campaign and election an American Revolution of 2008?view less
