He spent time studying in Germany in his early twenties before returning to the States and receiving a degree in political science from Portland State University. Since then he has worked various odd jobs, including long stints in the insurance and health care industries. He has freckles, plays chess and guitar, and has been an avid reader since a young age. He likes the wind in the trees, the city, and black coffee. He first realized how much he loved books, language and the written word in a high school English class.
