She has always loved to hear stories of wonder, fantasy and adventure.
In the late seventies, Joan and her husband Eric moved to Rochester, NY to start their family. While in Rochester, Joan began working as a contractor for the City of Rochester Department of Parks and Recreation. Joan developed original puppet shows to perform throughout the city at the neighborhood recreation centers and schools. Eventually she expanded her repertoire to story telling through out the city. Over the next fifteen years Joan wrote and edited a quarterly craft exchange magazine distributed by the city. She was also a fixture at workshops, holiday celebrations, summer festival and special events.
Her daughters, Rebecca, Amanda and Elizabeth often attended the city’s special events. So the challenge at home was to create new stories that the girls had not heard before.
Joan is now living in Lexington, KY with her husband and taking the time to write down some of the stories she has told so often.view less
