My parents took my three sisters and me to the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Egyptology frequently when we were growing up. When I was about 20, my mother took me and my three younger sisters to a psychic fair and I was told that I was a very old soul and that Hatshepsut was close to me, protecting me. Later in life, I discovered that the Pharaoh and I did share something in common. She had amassed one of history’s earliest zoos. I have been involved with animals since I can remember.
I became a zoo-keeper at the Norristown Elmwood Park Zoo, worked with many of the 120 Siberian tigers, African lions, jaguars, leopards, cougars and even an African elephant named Tembo, at the Shambala Preserve in Acton, California, owned by actress Tippi Hedren. I have rescued hundreds of stray cats, dogs, raccoons, squirrels, even an abused alligator which I gave to my old friend, Jim (Wild Kingdom) Fowler.
Over the years, I have amassed quite a collection of books and artifacts relating to Ancient Egypt. Someday, when the time is right, I hope to travel to Egypt and visit all those places I have longed to see for myself. I have no doubt that the ancient spirits still haunt those places and will inspire
in me another book. Until then, I hope, dear readers, that you will enjoy ‘SCARAB’.
