As a graduate of UCLA and USC with a bachelor degree in molecular biology and a doctorate of medicine respectively, he has a unique perspective on the role of science and genetic engineering in shaping the future of mankind. Given man's predictable psychology and unsavory propensity, Nick Sapien set out to speculate on the ultimate dystopian society, to question the nature of freedom and rebellion. To create this society, he drew on personal, contrasting experiences of living a harsh life under a suppressive communist society versus a comfortable freedom in Southern California, and the resultant dystopian society is truly terrifying, as it is rooted not only in the societal institutions but in the very genetic sequences of man himself.view less
